Saijin Moon: Volume 3
Saijin Moon: Volume 3
Author's Note: I wish to apologize for the delay in this chapter. Unfortunately, life tends to get the best of me. I hope that this latest chapter makes up for the tardiness. ^_^ To any new readers of this series I warn you beforehand that Saijin Moon consists of a relatively complicated visual fanfiction storyline coupled with lengthy, rather 'wordy' paragraphs. Please understand that I will not change that ever.
Thank you again for choosing to read Saijin Moon's lastest volume.
Taurus Bardaku was not in a fine mood. Yet somehow he kept a neutral look upon his face and kept his thin as ice temper barely restrained. He would give Beak thirty more seconds to tell him what he wanted to know before he snapped the master engineer's neck. Taurus actually thought he was being very courteous, and cautioned himself not to allow such consideration to become a nasty habit.
"Well it's like I was saying," Beak continued, "apparently two distinct energy signatures teleported off the Chini-Zu without first going through the standard by the book procedures."
"Two signatures?" Taurus had finally spoken. His voice held a twinge of surprise yet was considerably forceful at the same time. The moment of confusion quickly faded. And when he turned to give Beak his full attention the old man's knees began to shake. "Who exactly left the ship without my order," Taurus demanded.
His scowl could set a fire blazing, Beak decided. He couldn't meet that gaze for long and had to stare at the tips of his boots in order to concentrate on the conversation. "Ah let's see...the readings indicated that the first signature belonged to one of the crew members named, Oni Cebolla. I've spoken to the lass several times before. She's a real nice, hard worker. The others like to give her a hard time. I even heard that the poor lass was framed for the Sector Seven fire earlier." Beak glanced up at Taurus. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that now would you?"
Taurus grunted.
"Heh, I thought not. Well now, the second reading belongs to first officer, Raditsu. He left the ship fifteen minutes after Oni left."
Taurus frowned as he put his hands on his hips. "Oni? The Saiya-jin female?"
Beak nodded, "The very same."
"Blasted woman! She LEFT the ship?!"
"Yes, yes, very sad," Beak sighed in disappointment. "Pratically flew into the teleporter chamber," He said while gesturing with his hands. "Gone, diasppeared onto who knows where because her Captain ignored her pleas of innocence. Random coordinates, and smashed keyboards are all what I have left with at the end. Broken parts are not cheap to repair," Beak added with a nod. "I just wanted to point that out before you see the bill."
"SHE LEFT THE SHIP!" Taurus bellowed completely ignoring anything Beak was saying.
"Well, yes I have that confirmed. Captain, might I remind you that Raditsu also left shortly afterwards? The reading on his destination was to a pre-programmed location on Earth. The Juuban District if I recall correctly."
"The fool. For now, let him mingle with the human cattle if that's his desire. This miserable mudball of a planet won't exist for much longer." In truth the thought of his younger brother fooling around upon Earth disgusted Taurus. There would be time for Raditsu's punishment yet.
Beak timidly nodded. This sudden change to a pleasant attitude was as unsettling as Taurus' size and voice. "Captain, I mean no disrespect," he rushed out, "and I've good honest reasons for my coming question, but what will happen to Oni?"
It was obvious the Pirate King didn't care for that question. His expression turned as fierce as a bolt of lightning. Beak took an instinctive step back.
"The blasted woman blew up my kitchen. She decorated my Mess hall with flowery pieces of femininity, and dared to DEFY ME by leaving my ship." Taurus said in between gritted teeth.
She committed a mistake," Taurus continued, "one that will cost her dearly. What will happen to her is entirely up to me. If she is lucky, I will be finished with her by the end of the night."
Beak then realized the captain of the Chini-Zu was consumed with utter fury. The master engineer had seen that look in his captain's eyes before and the results were less than friendly. Suddenly Beak was overwhelmed with pity for poor Oni. May the Great One have mercy on her, Oni was going to need it...
+~+Juuban District +~+
"In the name of Love and Justice, I the Sailor Suited Senshi of the Future, give you my blessing!" She had introduced herself, but the reception at her arrival was less than friendly.
"What up, what up. I don't frickin' care if you're the Queen of Simeria. You ain't got no business here," Derek growled as he brought up his fists.
"Turn around and pretend you never crossed our paths," Veto growled as a warning. He then turned back to the innocent victim. The intent to finish what he had started was clear on his mind.
"Please, help me!" The old man wailed.
The cries of help did not fall on deaf ears. Sailor Chibi-Moon quickly kicked Veto away from the elder.
Veto stumbled backwards. He reached up to touch his bloody lip. The pink lady had gone too far. "Maldita!" He pulled out a gun and fired.
SFX:(*BANGBANG BANG!*)
Time slowed down to a crawl.
Suddenly, the air seemed to ripple and snap with a charge of electricity. The bullets stopped in mid-air. Sailor ChibiMoon's eyes widened as large as two dinner plates. She was just as surprised to see the bullets hovering in mid-air as Veto and Derek seemed to be. Gently, the bullets dropped to the ground arranged neatly in a pile at Sailor ChibiMoon's feet. "By the Moon," Sailor ChibiMoon whispered.
The lapse of surprise did not last. Veto cursed under his breath; he had missed. "Don't just stand there like a menso(*dummy*)" Veto shouted over his shoulder to Derek. "Represent!"
Derek came rushing.
Sailor ChibiMoon snapped out of her reverie. She raised her hand into the air and a gold wand formed into her grasp. The air crackled with energy as the Senshi summoned her power. "Moon Healing Escalation!" she called out.
A blinding flash of pure light slammed into Derek. He was lifted off his feet and thrown against a brick wall. A wave of dizziness consumed Derek. He shook his head clear. "She's some kind of witch! There ain't no way I'm staying!" He said and ran off into the dark alley.
Derek could only gape in horror. Was this for real?! "Darn it! What kind of bruja(*witch*) are you?!" Veto shouted, as he lifted his gun to fire again. This time he would not miss as easily. Before Veto could pull the trigger completely, the gun in his hand was knocked away. Something grabbed him by the waist and shoved him backward, into the street. It pitched him forward, onto the pavement. Veto rolled for about fifty yards, then came to rest under a streetlight on his back. First the bullets mysteriously hovered in mid-air. Second, the pink-haired girl had magical powers, and Third, this mumbo-jumbo stuff was way out of his league! Slowly, carefully, Veto pushed himself to his feet before fleeing down the street alley.
"What--?" Sailor ChibiMoon gaped at the outline of a man. Dressed in black, he stood with his legs apart in a warrior's stance while his smirk gleamed wickedly in the dim light. Even though she could see nothing of his face, his ever-changing aura was mammoth, giving him a presence that was as startling as it was powerful. This new stranger was alike a lethal shadow just waiting to strike.
He stood in silence looking at her across the distance.
Suddenly, someone tapped Chibi-Moon's shoulder breaking her out of her reverie.
"Uhm, excuse me. . .thank-you?" The old man gently offered to Sailor Chibi-Moon. The elder's face was full of gratitude.
Sailor ChibiMoon smiled warmly. "My pleasure. Please go home and be safe."
"I will," the male waved, as he walked away. "Thanks to you!"
With an unbelievably deliberate calmness, the mysterious male turned away. Then he left as quickly and silently as he'd come.
Blaring sirens filled the air and were getting progressively louder. Someone in the vicinity must have called the police. Sailor Chibi-Moon barely heard the sirens that hit her ears so fast and blended that she couldn't tell what was what at the moment. Her mind was still on the male who'd come to her rescue. Why had he bothered to save her? She had to know more about him... Before she could think better of it, Sailor Chibi-Moon ran after him, looking for a tailed-man who shouldn't be real.
Raditsu was halfway down the block before she caught up to him and pulled him to a stop. His face impassive, he looked down at her with deep, dark eyes. Eyes so black that she couldn't detect the pupils.
"I--I wanted to thank you for helping me," she stammered.
Raditsu stared at the wealth of strawberry curls that cascaded without order around her oval face. Her ruby eyes were filled with a brilliant vitality and warmth. She was a great beauty, her features had a quiet charm that was inviting, tempting. Even so, she had touched him in a way he'd never known. No one had ever thanked him before. It felt nice. Still, if Taurus discovered that he had let a human get this close...
The Pirate King would kill her in a heartbeat.
He couldn't let that happen. His face hardened. "Cut it out! Don't get any ideas, cottonball. The guy was in my way, just like you are at this moment."
ChibiMoon's eyes waivered. Why was he being cruel? "What do you mean I'm in your way? I just wanted to give my thanks. I wasn't thinking anything else."
Raditsu looked away into the distance. He didn't know how to explain to this innocent girl that the people he associated with were less than friendly. He couldn't possibly tell her that his older brother was more than capable of killing her for simply being next to him. And all of it because...
With a heavy sigh, he rubbed his forehead. "Crap, this turned out all wrong. Listen, I can't let anyone from this planet get close to me."
What did that mean, ChibiMoon wondered. In the dim light of the street lamps his shoulders seemed to be slumped in defeat and his eyes. . . Those eyes of his eyes were full of such sadness. She reached out to lightly touch his arm. "Is there anything I can do to help you?"
He looked up at her in suprise. Her words were filled with sincerity. Raditsu nodded. He lifted a hand to caress the side of her cheek. "Forget what happened tonight. Forget that I ever existed."
+~+The Briefs Home +~+
She was often mistaken for a ditz and on a good day she could certainly pass as one. However, Buruma Briefs was anything but dumb. She had her genius father to thank for her brain power. As the sole heiress to the biggest scientific and technological research facility in the world called, Capsule Corporation, she had a lot of responsibility on her two shoulders. Which meant that she was also filthy stinking rich; a plus in her way of thinking. Buruma Briefs absolutely loved to go shopping.
"Hmm, a massive amount of electromagnetic energy recently spiked in the United States. Each source of energy occuring one after another almost as if---" Buruma stopped in mid-thought. The data was far too inclusive to make an educated guess at this point. During the past few months the Capsule Corp. positioned seismometers were detecting packets of collective energy not only in the United States but specifically in the Arctic region. Only just recently did the same pattern of occurances strangely begin to appear in Japan.
Even so, her previous thought continued nagging in the back of her mind. Buruma shook her head in disbelief. "Inclusive data or not, these spikes are far from random. Almost seeming to be pre-planned," she stated in growing curiousity.
Suddenly a harsh and commanding voice rudely(*not to mention very loudly*) interupted her thoughts.
"BAKA ONNA!(*Stupid woman!*)"
Buruma gritted her teeth in frustration. They've been together for three years AND STILL he couldn't bring himself to say her name! She prayed for a little patience before shouting back, "I'm in the study, Vegeta!"
Vegeta slammed the door shut behind him nearly tearing the door off the hinges. Buruma did not automatically turn to his attention. Big mistake. He placed his hands on his hips attempting to glare a hole into the back of her head. "I thought I ordered you to fix the gravity chamber. The console is still broken from when I last tested it in martial arts training."
"And I thought I told 'you' to get ready for dinner at the Son house," Buruma fired back. "We had a deal remember? You would come with me to dinner at the Son house and I would fix the gravity console. It doesn't work the other way around. Got it?!"
He spluttered in shock and anger. "Dinner? You expect the Prince of all Saiya-jin to spend an evening with that third-class bastard; Kakarott, and his bitch of a wife, Chichi?!" He peered down at Buruma. "Tch! I had thought that you were pretty smart for a human but it seems you like to imitate a world-class idiot at every chance."
Oh that did it. Buruma nearly toppled her chair over in a rush to get into Vegeta's face. "Listen up! This is not the day to piss me off! I am not about to get into another arguement with you! Either you go with me and behave, or you'll never step foot into that gravity chamber EVER AGAIN!"
Vegeta rudely snorted. "FINE. I'll go but don't expect me to enjoy myself."
'Well this is unexpected', Buruma thought in surprise. Normally they would be going at it for hours before he conceded. "Good," she said, with a satisfied nod of her head. "I'm glad it's settled."
A wry, wry, smirk curled the corners of his mouth. "Hmph, had I known it was that time of the month I would have gone off to the wilderness to train."
Buruma's mouth nearly dropped to the floor. "My---my what?!"
Vegeta turned his back on his wife as he walked out of the room. "Time of the month. You did say, this is not the day to piss me off'," he echoed. He shrugged his shoulders. "I assumed it's the time when human females become especially moody. I can't argue with you when you're already acting twice the bitch."
"ARGGGGGGGGHHH!! That's not what I was talking about," Buruma screamed back. The door slammed shut again leaving her to seethe in frustration alone.
"OH! Darn that man! Darn that impossible, impossible man!"
She bent her head down, touching her chin to her chest with a heavy sigh. "What do I even see in him," she asked herself outloud. A moment or three passed before the answer came to her mind. "Ohhh that's right." Buruma quickly lifted her head up. Her eyes sparkled with mischief, "The sex. The sex is good," she chuckled.
At that moment a catchy midi to the tune of ''I'm Blue, la da dee da da dah' played in the background. Buruma reached over the desk to pick up the phone on the second ring. "Moshi moshi? (*Hello*)" she asked with a smile.
"...."
"I see. When did this happen exactly?"
"...."
"Allright. I want you to immediately investigate the area where this anomaly occurred. Bring back samples of the soil and take them to the lab. I'll be in tomorrow to check the final results. Oh and Aaron? Be careful."
She put the phone back on its receiver but her hand remained on the cradle. Buruma frowned in worry as she contemplated the conversation she just had with her star apprentice, Aaron Socrates. Recently there was a shockwave of intense electromagnetc energy that had passed through Kiyoto city. Normally these waves would be harmless but Kiyoto authorites estimated at least three thousand citizens were found in a comatose state. . .
+~+The Son Home +~+
Her morning started like every other for the past five years. Wake up, take a shower, clean the house, then fix breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There was a time, a time long ago, when she would spend entire days exploring her father's kingdom. She would frolick in the royal gardens or visit the local merchants to see what rare goods they bartered that day in the market. Time seemed to fly right out of her fingers. Before she had known it the day had been completely spent and the next morning would be anxiously awaited for every day was a new adventure.
But marriage had changed all of that in a heartbeat.
Those times were far gone. Son Chichi was now a devoted wife and mother. She no longer could afford to be selfish. There were far more important matters to take care of that would take up all of her time and energy. Being the wife to Son Goku and mother to his children demanded her full attention. Especially since she was the only one that would take care of all the responsibilities that both marriage and family entailed. It was no secret that Son Goku hardly spent more than an hour at home.
Chichi bit the bottom of her lip to fight back the tears. Each second, each minute, each hour of the day that they were apart became more over-bearing. Her heart was filled heavy with feelings of lonliness. Yet, she was a strong woman both in body and spirit. The emptiness she felt would not take hold of her heart without a fierce fight. Except, she was human, and she fell susceptible to these feelings very often. Each night that she fell asleep alone and each morning that she awoke in the same manner would steadily beat her down. She was fast becoming a sad, bitter, lonely woman. Chichi didn't even want to think what it was doing to her sons, Gohan and Goten.
It was at that moment when she had felt his presence before he even spoke of his arrival. He had a knack for appearing and disappearing whenever he wanted. She crossed her arms over her chest. "Goku-san I thought I told you that I hate it when you use Shunkan Idou(*Instant Teleport*) to appear in this house."
Goku placed his right hand behind his head and smiled sheepishly. "Saaa...but that was months ago. I wanted to come home and surprise you right away."
"I am certainly surprised," Chichi remarked with a hint of sarcasm. "I didn't expect you to come home today."
Son Goku was as usual oblivious to the sarcastic tone in Chichi's voice. In a strange way, he was completely naive about nearly everything in life. He merely brightened up with a bigger smile thinking he had given her a nice surprise. "I'm glad. I wanted to see you again."
Chichi fell quiet for a moment. She had immediately felt guilty for acting the way she had with her husband. She lowered her gaze to the floor. The distance between them more apparent than ever. Instead of rushing into his arms Chi-Chi opted to question her husband. "Ah Goku-san? Where have you been these past few months? I was hoping that you would come visit us more often?"
Goku cocked his head to the side as if the answer should have been obvious. "I thought I told you before I had left? I was out training in the mountains with Trunks."
Chichi's temper sky-rocketed to the moon. "Goku-sa," she said, controlling her voice, "you what?!"
"Ne, Chichi," he grinned, holding out his arms for a hug, "are you glad to see me?"
Chichi showed him just how glad she was to see him.
SFX: CRACK!
Goku stared down at his wife. Even when they'd been younger, she hadn't been able to hurt him physically, and this slap had been as harmless as a baby's touch. He was concerned, however, with what was behind the slap. "Chichi," he began.
"Vegeta's son? Why Trunks? Why couldn't you have trained with your own sons at least," she howled.
"I thought it was okay," he shrugged. "Trunks seems nice. I was even going to go see Vegeta about--"
"Then go see Vegeta and _his family_ instead," Chichi snapped, her eyes filling with tears. She turned on her heel and ran out of the room.
Goku stared after her, bewildered.
+*+Kiyoto City, at the Colonial Mall+*+
Despite all her efforts to contain them, tears streamed down her face. Panic welled inside her; she wished she could think straight, but she could only wipe at her running nose. She had to get control, her mother would say. But her mother was dead. That returned the tears in cascades. She hadn't cried like this since the day the monsters came to wipe out her family. She hadn't cried like this ever since that real life nightmare. After that shocking event, she'd cheerfully went about picking up the broken pieces. She'd rejoiced that she was able to find work onboard a space vessel. A moving home amongst the stars where she could stay safe, eat well, and have a roof over her head. Secretly, she was happy to serve the Captain. She'd felt needed, important, a part of a new family.
Then the Pirate King had kicked her out.
Now she had nothing.
The Captain blamed her for an accident that wasn't her fault. He wouldn't even listen to her try to explain her side of things. It was as if she had truly not mattered to him. As if her whole existance was nothing. Oni clung onto a white column for support. Her knees shook, and it was hard to keep her balance. And it was hard to see because hot tears kept getting in her way. Heart-wrenching sobs escaped her throat. Her arms tightened around the column. She had denied the emptiness within, forced out the pain of losing her family for many years. . . And the Captain ripped her wide open so much that she couldn't stop crying.
Her life really sucked.
There was no future for her was there? She was an orphaned daughter, a discarded servant, a useless person.
Maybe if she had been smarter, maybe if she had been stronger; then everything could have been different. She could have saved her family. She could have protected them from harm. She could have, she could have, she could have... Oni's hands slid down the column as the bottom of her rump hit the cold ground. She curled her tail around her body in a mock embrace. The tears kept coming. They poured down her cheeks and splashed against her chest and legs. At this moment, her whole world was full of could-have's...
Her world was also full of evil.
"Boo hoo, oh boo hoo," an eerie voice mocked.
She froze. Every nerve, every sense was jangling, setting off warning bells throughout her mind. A cold chill suddenly ran down Oni's spine. She felt eyes upon her causing the little hairs on the back of her neck to stand at attention. Some rational part of her mind insisted that there couldn't be danger here, without warning, in the broad daylight; she was just overreacting, jumping at shadows, reacting to her fear of being left alone.
"Who's there," Oni whispered.
The shadows around Oni came to life.
"Who's there? Ahh just a daimon come to haunt you. What's a daimon you ask?" The figure grinned like the devil. "Don't let it bother you too much. It just means I'm not a relatively good person." The malicious being cackled. "Allow me to introduce myself," he bowed. "I am the daimon Etenaru. It's my job to make sure there are no live bodies in this area. Apparently I missed one."
Suddenly deadly sai flashed into view. "Let me correct that little mistake. WELCOME TO YOUR DEATH!"
Her life now, officially sucked big-time.
A huge part of her had been hoping that she was imagining the entire situation. However fate seemed to hold the last laugh. There was no mistake that this 'being' was threatening her very life. The blue-haired male stood with sai held in a offensive position. He was lean but his frame rippled with taught muscle. His red eyes were filled with bloodlust.
"Leave me be. I've done you no wrong." Oni had sensed immediately that Etenaru was not even remotely human. There was a blackness surrounding his aura. A never-ending darkness that she did not want to even go near.
"I smell fear from you. Do you fear me little one?"
Oni paused, and nodded. "I won't deny it. I do."
Etenaru's eyes flashed, "Good, then let me hear your screams!"
He flew right at Oni.
The blades he used were not ordinary. they cut right into her skin like a hot knife through butter.
She screamed in utter agony. The pain was unbearable. Her thoughts ran a mile a minute. This could not be happening, she thought wildly. This just could not be happening! Suddenly her chest constricted and her lungs began to burn like hot coals. There was something else wrong as well for Oni then felt her blood run hot like liquid fire.
Etenaru began to close the distance between them. "Do you feel it already," he asked, as if he had read her thoughts. "The tips of my blades are laced with a deadly poison that my body excretes. As the posion makes its way into your blood stream it will begin to paralyze every nerve in your body."
"NO!" Oni screamed back in denial. She gathered her strength and quickly ran away.
Etenaru laughed at the sight. He quickly leaped into the air. "Play time is over, little one." He clapped his hands together as he began channeling an enormous amount of energy. The daimon's body began to glow with dim light as he summoned his power. He then fired a beam of energy directly at Oni's retreating form.
He fired and the beam hit.
SFX: KRAKAAM!
The force of the beam slammed Oni into the ground. She was left nearly unconscious from the direct hit. Worst yet, her entire body seemed to be unresponsive. The beast's poison casually coursed through her bloodstream and into every nerve in her small frame. All that she could do was watch helplessly as Etenaru lazily touched back down to the ground.
The eyes of the daimon were filled with a perverted pleasure as he reveled in her misery. Waves of energy coursed down his arm and sparked over the sai in his hands. "Game over, it's time to go to sleep."
He waved his sai in front of Oni and released a second wave of energy.
The waves of energy ransacked her body pushing it to convulse and shudder with white hot searing pain. She thought that she had screamed again. It hurt, it HURT, like a giant serpentine beast that constricted her limbs and bit into her, injecting fire into her soul. She couldn't fight it. The mad, unchained force beat against her like a ceaseless tide it was more than she could bear. Oni drifted, helpless,in a sea of pain, hoping only for death to come and free her.
She felt the abyss yawning beneath her and---suddenly felt no pain. She was tired of the pain anyways. Sadly, she had felt pain of some sort for almost all of her life. Now, drifting in a sea of white, for the first time, she felt extremely light. Oni felt free of pressure and fear. She felt free of the past and ultimately felt free of her lonliness. It was at that moment that she decided to let the silent winds carry her.
It felt so good to be free.
--Free of life.

"And I thought I told 'you' to get ready for dinner at the Son house," Buruma fired back. "We had a deal remember? You would come with me to dinner at the Son house and I would fix the gravity console. It doesn't work the other way around. Got it?!"
'Well this is unexpected', Buruma thought in surprise. Normally they would be going at it for hours before he conceded. "Good," she said, with a satisfied nod of her head. "I'm glad it's settled."
Buruma's mouth nearly dropped to the floor. "My---my what?!"
"ARGGGGGGGGHHH!! That's not what I was talking about," Buruma screamed back. The door slammed shut again leaving her to seethe in frustration alone.
"...."
Normally these waves would be harmless but Kiyoto authorites estimated at least three thousand citizens were found in a comatose state. . .
Goku placed his right hand behind his head and smiled sheepishly. "Saaa...but that was months ago. I wanted to come home and surprise you right away."
"I am certainly surprised," Chichi remarked with a hint of sarcasm. "I didn't expect you to come home today."
Chichi's temper sky-rocketed to the moon. "Goku-sa," she said, controlling her voice, "you what?!"
"Ne, Chichi," he grinned, holding out his arms for a hug, "are you glad to see me?"
Chichi showed him just how glad she was to see him.
He waved his sai in front of Oni and released a second wave of energy.
It felt so good to be free.
--Free of life.
